Jonas's community is a perfect society. There is no pain or hunger, everyone is provided for, and there are no problems. Jonas is chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory, the most important member of the Committee of Elders. When Jonas learns all that his society has lost to achieve perfection, he devises a plan to give the memories back to the community so once again, they will all understand right from wrong.

An excellent book choice to teach sanctity of life.

    Giver Study Guide

Posted by Telesia on 28th Feb 2020

There are essay ideas at the end of the study guide. The guide is broken into approximately 3 chapter sections at a time with vocabulary and in depth questions. There are also literary terms used like foreshadowing. The story is very interesting and makes you think what could happen if we lived in a society like the Giver.

    Giver, The ... E Guide

The materials look like they will be very useful. I am looking forward to using them in my classroom. I appreciate having bible references in the questions. There are a lot of faith/morality issues to discuss when reading this book with students.
